Olivia Bruce

 At an early age, Olivia discovered a passion to draw and color. At 8 years old, she met Mavis Turner of “More Than a Conqueror” (MTC) Art Studios. At MTC, she was introduced to the world of Visual Art! Olivia was exposed to and enjoyed working with various mediums such as pencil, color pencil, oil pastels, charcoal, marker, watercolors and acrylic paint. While at MTC, Olivia was presented with many awards for outstanding achievement in visual art. In 2009, 2010 and 2013, she was the recipient of MTCs highest award, the Elizabeth Catlett Award for excellence in art, academics and community service.

In 2008 Olivia was featured on a Twin Cities, Minnesota talk show called the “Cross Roads” hosted by Sheletta Brundidge.  In 2009, she was the featured artist during the City of Glenarden, Maryland’s Black History month program.

During 2009 thru 2013, some of Olivia’s noted accomplishments include: Designed the Butterfly4Life Breast Cancer Logo; Illustrator of the published children’s devotional book “IN HIM I MOVE” by Min. Amanda Standard; Illustrator of the cover and several pages of the 2011 U.S. White House Holiday Tour Guide; Attended the U.S. White House Holiday receptions in 2011 and 2012; Won the Painting category for the NAACP ACT-SO Competition – Washington, DC region; Started her own company, “An Original Olivia, LLC”, specializing in original artwork, prints, specialty holiday, all occasion cards and T-shirts; Graduated with honors from the world renown high school for performing arts, Duke Ellington School of the Arts, Washington, DC.  Olivia was selected and successfully completed her freshman year at Marist College, Florence, Italy majoring in Studio Art and Film Media/Production.

Community service activities include: Volunteer for the Anthony Brown 2014 campaign for Govern of Maryland, Volunteered for President Obama’s re-election campaign; Volunteer with Habitat for Humanities; Illustrator of logos and donates to several non-profit organizations, plays piano for community fund raising events and offers piano lessons to elementary school children. Olivia is a member of Reid Temple AME Church in Glenn Dale, MD.

Currently, Olivia is a sophomore at Marist College, New York.
